Wellspring Birth Doula, Greenville, SC

About Me

A wellspring is a continual source.  It is something or some one who provides a bountiful source of something. My doula philosophy is to be a wellspring of information, support and friendship throughout your pregnancy and into childbirth.

My doula philosophy will encourage you to have a relaxed, unmedicated, beautiful birth. I understand when plans go awry and I will support you and your partner in all decisions you make about your birth, but know initially, I will work from a place of assisting you in a natural birth.

I am a Christian doula. What this means in my faith will not be brushed aside to serve you, nor will it be thrust upon you. Christ came as a little child and taught us how to love and be forgiven. I feel birth is a blessing from God to women and not a curse. It is the time, in my experience, in which I feel the closet to our God, the time when all the pain and suffering and love of Christ come together in such complete and awesome power. I am humbled. I am his servant. My calling is to assist women in this amazing hour, this time of bearing a child into the world.

I'm a mother to four. I'm a homeschooler and wife to a wonderful teacher. I am blessed to have a husband who supports me in birth work and who is available for me to be called away suddenly for births. I've been studying childbirth in some fashion for the past 20 years. I'm concurrently certifying as a hypnodoula through Hypnobabies and through Dar La Luz School of Midwifery. I have had my children in birth centers, at home and in hospital. I have had water births and babes on land:) I have had some minor interventions, but I support a natural childbirth experience.

Some random things…

  • Scone Tuesday is an actual day in my house.
  • I told my husband on our first date I wouldn't have a baby in a hospital. Never say never!
  • I owned and operated a cloth diaper business in the dark ages.
  • I drink my tea like a Brit.
  • I studied English in college, but if I were to be a teacher now, I would love to teach elementary Math!
  • I actually miss my Midwest winters.
  • I fall upstairs.
  • Once upon a time, I thought I'd only have two children…

I'm so glad you are looking for a doula! Hopefully we will be a great fit, but if not, I know lots of wonderful women who can support you in having a beautiful birth.
